Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives debuts clear-drying, water-soluble adhesive

Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives North America has introduced DS2, a clear-drying, water-soluble adhesive for label applications that require complete removal with no adhesive residue.

Developed for use with water-dissolvable facestocks, DS2 disperses in hot or cold water, helping labels release cleanly from reusable containers and surfaces. The adhesive supports applications where labels need to remain functional during use. They then can wash away during cleaning, power washing, or industrial dishwashing processes.

Fedrigoni designed DS2 for numerous environments, including food service, food preparation, grocery, healthcare, institutional, and lab environments. Use cases include containers, trays, totes, and other items that may need temporary identification, date coding, or tracking. Common applications include cafeteria and hospital tray labels, food prep and expiration labels, produce tote identification, and laboratory labeling.

“DS2 was developed for applications where the label needs to perform during use, then wash away cleanly when the container is ready to be reused,” states Melissa Harton, marketing manager, North America, Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives. “By pairing a water-soluble adhesive with water-dissolvable facestocks, converters can support customers who need clean-release labels that leave no adhesive residue behind.”

The adhesive adheres to metal, HDPE, and other low-surface-energy plastic containers, as well as smooth and lightly textured application surfaces. Users can pair DS2 with Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives’ 47# Water Dissolvable Direct Thermal facestock, which dissolves completely when immersed in water.

The launch of DS2 expands the Fedrigoni Self-Adhesives portfolio of materials developed for applications where clean removal, container reuse, and efficient cleaning processes are important. By enabling labels to dissolve and disperse during cleaning, DS2 helps reduce the need for manual label removal while supporting reuse-focused container programs.
